Does this sound familiar?

Most people who reach out aren’t in crisis — they’re just ready to move.

Situation 01

Something feels off. You can't name it yet.

Competent, maybe even successful by outside measures — but something is off. Sunday nights feel heavier than they should. You're not sure whether to stay or go, and you can't see the path forward clearly.

Situation 02

Applying. Following up. Hearing nothing.

Updating LinkedIn, networking — still not hearing back from roles you actually want. Something in the approach isn’t working and you can’t see what it is from the inside.

Situation 03

Ready for a change. Not sure how to make it land.

Switching industries, returning after time away, making a pivot that doesn’t fit neatly on a resume. You need someone who can find the through-line in your story and help you tell it well.

You can’t think yourself into a new career.
You have to act yourself into one.

Linda Faucheux, MA, LPC

(pronounced Fō-sháy, long ‘a’)

“I floundered in my early life. I wasn’t one of those people who knew what they wanted to do. Looking back I can see it was a lack of confidence that kept me stuck — not knowing where I was going, not trusting myself. That stayed with me until about thirty.”

At 30, Linda enrolled in graduate school — “a scary thing” by her own description — earning her MA in Counseling Psychology from Naropa University. She began as a psychotherapist working with addiction, depression and trauma. Then something shifted.

“Over time I realized I was a much better counsellor when I focused on strengths development, self-actualization, and human flourishing. That realization led me to career coaching.”

Linda rose to Associate Director at the University of Colorado Career Center, then Director of Career Services at Naropa University. In 2015 she received the National Career Development Facilitator Champion Award from the National Career Development Association.

For nearly a decade she has been coaching Canadian clients full-time through Careers by Design — day in, day out, working with Toronto professionals navigating Bay Street politics, tech layoffs, burnout, career pivots, and the particular pressures of Canadian workplace culture. That’s not an American coach who occasionally takes Canadian clients. It’s close to ten years of lived familiarity with what actually faces professionals in this country.

She also knows what it takes to conquer fear from the inside. Linda had a severe fear of public speaking — migraines every time she stood in front of people — and overcame it by doing it anyway for ten years. “Every failure was an opportunity to get a little better. I tell my clients the same thing.” Connect with Linda on LinkedIn →

How we work

No tests filed and forgotten. No generic plans. Just coaching built entirely around you.

01

Discover your signature strengths

Clients often arrive expecting to fix weaknesses. What actually moves you forward is understanding and building on what you already do well — your hardwired genius.

02

Connect Head & Heart

The Careers by Design approach uses mindfulness and HeartMath tools to bring your whole self into the process — decisions from genuine clarity, not circular thinking.

03

Act your way forward

Every session ends with real next steps. We stay with you through the search, the interviews, and the decisions — because you don’t think your way in. You act.

What a fulfilling career actually looks like

When 70% of what you do on any given day draws on your natural strengths — things you’re genuinely good at, that give you energy, that put you in flow — that’s when work stops feeling like a grind. Most people settle for far less because they don’t know how to identify or position their strengths for the right role.

That’s precisely what Linda works toward with every client.

Common questions about career coaching in Toronto

Answers to what most people want to know before booking a call.

Career coaching in Toronto typically ranges from $150 to $400 per session depending on credentials and program format. At Careers by Design we always start with a free intro call so you understand what is involved before committing to anything.
Career coaching is action-oriented and future-focused — building strategy, job search skills, and the confidence to execute. Career counselling goes deeper into personal identity, values, and the emotional dimensions of career decisions. In Ontario it is often delivered by a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) whose sessions may be covered by EAP or extended health plans. We offer both through Careers by Design. Our free call will clarify which fits your situation.
All sessions with Linda are delivered by video call, equally accessible from the Financial District, North York, Scarborough, Mississauga, or anywhere across the GTA. Most Toronto clients find virtual sessions easier to fit around a busy workday — and often more candid than in-person.
Most clients begin to feel genuine clarity within the first two or three sessions. A focused job search program typically runs 4 to 7 sessions. Career transition work that includes deeper direction-finding runs 7 to 12 sessions. We build a specific plan on the free intro call — no guesswork, no upsell.
Yes — industry transitions are one of the most common reasons Toronto professionals come to us, especially those moving from financial services into tech, corporate into nonprofit, or navigating layoffs in a shifting market. We identify your signature strengths and build a positioning strategy that makes your background an asset in a new field.
General career coaching is not typically covered by Ontario extended health or EAP plans. However, if your situation involves deeper career-related stress, burnout, or identity questions, Careers by Design also offers sessions with a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) that are often covered under plans including Canada Life, Sun Life, Manulife, Green Shield, and Blue Cross. We will help you figure out the right fit on your free call.
